Chapa Business Group

Working to organize all business suppurt functions including accounting, reporting, tax, purchasing, material requirements planning (MRP) and implementing systems for inventory management, financial reporting, cash management, cost control, and planning. Company has four business units with annual revenues projected at $10 million within two years.

City of Houston Housing Department – Hurricane Harvey Relief Funds. US Housing and Urban Development Department. Managed by Deloitte Consulting.

Developed data modeling software using Microsoft Excel and SQL Server. Software provided Excel interface for loading various forecast models into master data model in SQL database. Sub-models could be tagged with master reporting codes which were used to normalize models by cost type and timing. Consolidated models could then be analyzed and presented using PowerBI and PowerQuery tools. System used to reforecast project spending and reallocate funds among programs according to changes prescribed by Management.

Finance Manager. Machinery Maintenance Rebuilders. Houston, Texas.

Re-implemented general ledger system (QuickBooks). Redesigned chart-of-accounts. Prepared monthly financial statements. Supervised Office Manager and Accounting Clerk. Managed banking, cash, payments, collections, payroll, and state taxes. Maintained Joint Venture accounts. Prepared reports and analysis for Board (Banks, Supplier financiers, CPA, and owner). Assisted CPA in preparing tax returns. Prepared bids and estimates.

Software Developer. The Goff Financial Group. Houston, Texas.

Developed portfolio rebalancing system for Registered Investment Advisor firm. System collected daily positions from trading system and prepared analysis of variance against standard models. Portfolio manager could then re-allocate portfolio by broad investment groups, and system would then recalculate effect of changes (gains/losses, cash generated or needed, and revised weighting). Trade files then could be generated to load into broker system to execute trades.

Patrician Blinds (Manufacturing). Houston, Texas

Supervised three accounting clerks. Prepared monthly financial statements for old and new owners. Handled analysis of manufacturing costs to distribute sales and profit between old and new business as part of post-sale process during transition. Reconciled balance sheet accounts. Made equity distribution of profits and losses between buyer and seller. Handled conversion to new accounting system and reconciled opening balances for new company.

Assistant Controller. J. B. Poindexter, Inc. Houston, Texas

Worked as Assistant Controller while regular employee was out on major health issue. Prepared weekly “flash” report consolidating key financial and operational information on sales (realized and projected), manufacturing costs, capital equipment costs, and other KPIs for eight (8) subsidiaries. Assisted Controller in closing general ledgers, reconciling accounts, and preparing variance analysis. Handled books for west Texas resort not included in normal consolidated data. Prepared monthly report for resort.
